Support for JobInfos in Lasernet Printer Service is the same as the Printer Output module.
Only local printers, installed on the Windows Printer Server, are supported by Lasernet Printer Service 11.
Hierarchy
There are three hierarchy levels used to define which printer settings will take precedence for a job:
Printer profile in the form.
Selection in the Printer Service application.
Windows printer queue (in other words, the default settings for that printer). This will apply if no adjustments are made to settings by either 1 or 2 (meaning that no printer-specific settings are adjusted).
Supported Formats
Supported print formats are EMF (Windows spooler format) with Printer Profiles and JobInfos.
PDF and DOCX are supported print formats but Printer Profiles and JobInfos are not supported. Default settings added to the Windows printer queues will be used instead.
Licensing
Lasernet Printer Service does not require any additional licensing. Licensing is similar to the Printer Output modules based on added printer connections.
Printer Profiles
Printer Profiles are managed in the Lasernet Printer Service application.
The profiles managed by the Printer Service application are grayed out in Lasernet Developer 11.
In Lasernet 9, printing was always created via the Printer Output module. As a result, printer profiles were maintained in Lasernet Developer 9 only. The ability to see printer profiles in Lasernet Developer is available in Lasernet Developer 11 for backwards compatibility reasons.
Printer Profiles created in Lasernet Developer 11 via Printer Output modules are not grayed and can be activated. These work in a similar way to the printer profiles in Lasernet Printer Service 11 and can be activated from the interface.
