    Article summary

Email Tracking is used to ensure files are successfully sent to the recipient.

It is also possible to use it to verify if the recipient has downloaded a file from an email. This is particularly useful when using the standard Dynamics Alert feature, as this notifies specific users if an email has not been sent or if the Lasernet report/file has not been downloaded from the email.

The Until downloaded option works by including a URL in the email to download the Lasernet report/file. Email Tracking relies on the recipient clicking the URL to verify whether the report/file has been downloaded.

Email Tracking is set up per report and is legal-entity-specific. This offers the flexibility to monitor only the reports that require tracking.

Considerations on the Until Downloaded Option

    • Some organisations do not allow opening URLs sent via email.

    • Some organisations use virus scanning, which checks URLs sent via email. When this scan takes place, it may look like the file has been downloaded, but a person has not clicked the URL. This gives a false result in the Email tracking form.

If these scenarios apply to your organization, Formpipe suggests selecting the Until sent option rather than the Until downloaded option.
