Autoform DM Compatibility Matrices

Autoform DM's support for each version of its prerequisite software aligns with vendor support (EOL) for the software. Support for prerequisite software also depends on which versions of the software Formpipe has tested Autoform DM with.

This page contains matrices that indicate which versions of prerequisite software are supported for each Autoform DM version. Unless stated otherwise, Formpipe recommends that you install the latest supported software.

This page also describes which types of API Autoform DM provides at each version, and the compatibility of Lasernet DM Upload modules with particular Autoform DM versions.

Operating System

¹ Windows Server 2012 – Extended support ended 10th October 2023.

² Windows Server 2012 R2 Lifecycle – Extended support ended 10th October 2023.

³ Windows Server 2016 – Extended support ends 10th January 2027.

⁴ Windows 10 – Extended support ends 9th January 2029.

⁵ Windows Server 2019 – Extended support ends 9th January 2029.

⁶ Windows Server 2022 – Extended support ends 14th October 2031.

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) – Server Installer

To install Autoform DM server software, a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) must be installed on the server. The installer runs on this JRE, not the Autoform DM software itself.

For DM 7, Oracle Java 1.7 and 1.8 are supported.

For DM 8.0 to 10.3, Oracle Java 1.8 is supported.

For DM 10.4, any (Oracle or non-Oracle) Java 1.8 or later JRE is supported. DM 10.4 has been tested with the Adoptium 1.8 JRE but all non-Oracle JREs are compatible.

Warning

There are important issues for a customer to consider around the licensing of Java. So, before choosing which Java distribution to install, read the following article: Autoform DM and Java Licensing.

Browser for Web App and JRE for Browser Applets

Browser

The Autoform DM web application must be used only with a supported browser.

¹ Microsoft apps (O365 and Teams) ended IE11 support in August 2021, and many other software vendors have done the same due to the limitations and maintenance with modern web technologies.

JRE for Browser Applets

To run the Document Import applet or Multiple Printing applet, an Oracle JRE must be installed.

For all versions of Autoform DM 9, Oracle Java 1.8 or later JREs are supported. 32-bit JREs are supported, 64-bit JREs are not supported. Applets are compatible with Internet Explorer only.

Note

These applets are not supported in Autoform DM 10.0 and later (due to a lack of browser support).

The capability provided by the Document Import applet has been replaced by the Web Document Import feature of the Autoform DM web application.

Database

⁴ For DM 9 a hibernate update is available on request which adds support for Oracle 18/19 (which will be officially included in Wildfly 20), and as of DM 10 is fully supported out-of-the-box.

Note

Formpipe recommends the use of Microsoft SQL Server where possible.

Note

H2 is supported only for demo purposes for standalone Autoform DM; it is not supported for use in production systems. H2 is not supported by the cluster installer.

Note

Formpipe supports Oracle database releases that are still within their support lifetime, but does not actively test or support Innovation Releases (such as 21c) with Autoform DM. Formpipe only supports the use of Oracle LTRs (Long Term Releases) with Autoform DM.

APIs

¹ Execution of SQL via the WSv1 API is no longer possible.

Lasernet Compatibility

Lasernet installations now include a DM Upload module.

The following table describes the compatibility of DM Upload module versions with Autoform DM versions.

Autoform DM Client Compatibility

The Autoform DM client enables you to distribute and run applications for workflow, OCR and data entry.

Autoform DM Client applications can be augmented with OCR recognition and key extraction capabilities. This requires the installation and configuration of a central OCR Template management product called the Scanning Rules Editor.  If you need more information about it, please contact Formpipe support.

Warning

From Autoform DM 10.1 onwards, only Autoform DM Client 10.1.1 and later are compatible. Formpipe recommends that you migrate to the latest version of Autoform DM Client before upgrading Autoform DM.

Scanning Rules Editor Compatibility Notes

• For Autoform DM Client 9 onwards, the Scanning Rules Editor must be the same minor version. For example, an Autoform DM Client at version 9.0.x must have applications uploaded by a Scanning Rules Editor at version 9.0.x.

• The way in which the apps are packaged and uploaded to the server changed in Autoform DM Client 8.1.1 and Scanning Rules Editor 8.1.4. If you are using Autoform DM Client 8.1.1 or earlier, you must use Scanning Rules Editor 8.1.4 or earlier.
