What Third-Party Applications Can Cause Issues with Lasernet?

    Article summary

Applies to: Lasernet 10, Lasernet 11

While Lasernet is designed to work on every machine that meets the recommended system specifications, there are certain tools/software that can cause issues with Lasernet. All antivirus, backup applications and anything else that directly accesses (and possibly locks) folders on the Lasernet Server should be set up to ignore the %ProgramData%\Formpipe Software\LaserNet v{ver} folder where {ver} is the version of Lasernet currently installed.

As a general good practice, all folders that Lasernet frequently uses to write and read data should be removed from these utilities. For example, the runtime directory as mentioned above - as certain antivirus software can ‘lock’ files while scanning them, preventing Lasernet from processing these files.

Best practice also dictates that the .grab folder should be ignored since it can be filled with thousands of tiny files that take such utilities a long time to process. In addition, all folders used as File Input or File Output should be excluded since they normally have a lot of data going through them.
