Overview
The Task recorder is a part of standard Dynamics 365 FO functionality. The Task recorder can be used to record business processes, such as creating a sales order and sending the Sales order confirmation report to a customer. This is achieved by recording the clicks which are made within an FO environment.
Once a task is recorded, it can be used as a guide to show end users how to perform that task in Dynamics 365 FO.
Task recordings can also be used with the Test and Performance Suite to automatically execute pre-recorded testing scenarios to validate Lasernet functionality after application updates or configuration changes. These could be Lasernet, Custom, or Application suite module updates.
The UX Testing functionality in the Test and Performance suite is used to execute the steps in a task recording without a user having to click the buttons. This functionality is useful to an organization as it can be used to create data for testing scenarios. UX Testing can also be used to test business processes, which include the printing of a Lasernet report. This is particularly useful when many steps need to be taken to create a scenario for a Lasernet report.
Test execution can be scheduled for a specific time and can be executed in multiple parallel sessions (each session is a separate browser session).
The test results are saved each time a UX test is run so these can be reviewed later.
Bear in mind that the execution of these UX tests does not replace Unit testing.
Note
The UX Testing functionality is based on the Task recorder, which might have limitations or issues. UX test execution will not work if the Task recorder is unable to replay a recording. The Task recorder might not be able to record or play a recording on:
