Shapes

With the Shape tool, you can create lines and shapes in the form editor. The shapes with which you can work here are either a rectangle or a rounded rectangle.

To create a line or a shape, click a down-pointed arrow next to the Shape tool. On the menu, click a command of your choice: Line, Rectangle, or Rounded Rectangle.

When the required command is selected, the cursor turns to a plus sign, and you can draw a Line, a Rectangle, or a Rounded Rectangle by dragging the pointer on the output page to mark the area for a line or a shape.

You can also draw a single or multiple line(s)/rectangle(s)/rounded rectangle(s) in dynamic vertical positions in the output view by dragging the pointer on the input page to select a pattern. As a result, the new object is connected to any pattern meeting the selected pattern criterion.

Exercise

Download and import the attached configuration called 12. Shapes in Lasernet Developer 9. Afterward, navigate to the Forms section, and then open the Sample form.

1. To create a Line, click the down-pointed arrow next to the Shape tool and select Line.

2. Move the pointer to the output page and draw a line.

Note

You can resize the line by moving the anchor points or grab the line and move it to another position.

3. Edit the properties of the Line. Keep default settings for Color (Black), Dashes (Solid line) and Width (0.75 pt).

4. Specify values for Position, Width, and Height as shown:

A line with the defined settings is added to the form.

5. Create a new line by clicking the Shape button on the Developer toolbar, and then clicking Line.

6. Edit the line properties by setting Color to Purple.

7. Set Width of the line to 3.00 pt.

8. Set Position, Width, and Height as shown:

You have now added another line to the form.

9. To create a rectangle, click the down-pointed arrow next to the Shape tool. On the menu, select Rectangle.

10. Move the pointer to the output page and draw a rectangle.

Note

You can resize the rectangle by moving the anchor points or move the rectangle to another position.

11. Edit the rectangle properties by setting Fill Color to Light purple.

12. Set Line Color to Dark purple and Dashes to Solid line (default).

13. Set Width to 2.00 pt.

14. Specify the Position, Width, Height, and Rotation values as shown:

You have now added a rectangle to the form.

15. Create two additional lines by clicking the Shape button on the Developer toolbar and then clicking Line. Draw the lines connecting opposite corners of the rectangle.

16. To maintain the Order of the layers, select the rectangle, right-click it, click Order, and then click Send to Back or Send Backward. As an alternative, you can multi-select the lines by holding down CTRL and clicking each line. Afterward, right-click multi-selection, click Order, and then click Bring to Front or Bring Forward.

17. Edit the line properties by setting Line Dashes to Dash line.

18. Set the Position and Width values as shown.

19. To create an oblique line, set Height to 20 mm.

The line size is calculated by using the Y position + Width + Height values.

20. Edit the second line properties by setting Line Dashes to Dash line.

21. Set the Position and Width values as shown.

22. To create an oblique line in the opposite direction compared to the previous line, set the Height to -20.00 mm.

You have now inserted a rectangle into the form with two oblique lines inside the rectangle.

23. To create a rounded rectangle, click the down-pointed arrow next to the Shape tool, and then click Rounded Rectangle.

24. Move the cursor to the output page and draw a rounded rectangle.

Note

You can resize the rounded rectangle by moving the anchor points.

25. Edit the rounded rectangle properties by setting Fill Color to Light gray.

26. Set Line Color to Dark purple and Dashes to Solid line (default).

27. Set Width to 2.00 pt.

28. Specify the Position, Width, Height, and Rotation values as shown.

29. Set Width Ellipse to 10.00 mm and Height Ellipse to 10.00 mm to maintain the size of the rounded corners.

You have now inserted a rounded rectangle in the form.

30. Create two additional lines using the Shape tool and draw them inside the Rectangle as shown. To maintain the order of the layers, select lines, right-click the selection, click Order, and then select the required command.

A rounded rectangle line is inserted alone with vertical and horizontal lines inside the rounded rectangle.
