Lasernet Core 11 Installation and Setup Guide
This guide introduces the applications and services that comprise Lasernet Core 11 and describes how to install and configure them. After following this guide, you will have an operational Lasernet Core 11 system.
Intended Audience
This guide is intended for:
IT administrators and technical consultants who set up production Lasernet Core systems. If you are part of this audience, follow the full installation and setup process. This process describes all available installation and setup options.
Anyone who wants to set up a basic demonstration or trial Lasernet Core system. If you are part of this audience, follow the “quick start installation” process, which is a simpler route to an operational Lasernet Core system. This audience includes those who do not have the IT and database administration knowledge required by the full installation and setup process.
Quick Start Installation Process
Where relevant, each page of this installation and setup guide contains Quick Start sections that contain instructions for those who are following the quick start installation and setup process.
An understanding of basic IT concepts and Lasernet Core concepts (such as configurations) is assumed.
Although the quick start process is a simpler route to an operational Lasernet Core system, the resulting system is suitable for use only as a demonstration or trial system, and is likely to be unsuitable for production settings. This is because the quick start process includes these compromises:
The database-related part of the process uses the built-in SQL Server system administrator account. Consequently, the database’s configuration might not conform to organizational best practices.
The process uses default settings (such as default port numbers), which might not be suitable for production settings.
The Lasernet Core system uses a demo license.
All Lasernet Core server and client software is installed on the server.
Users can sign in as the built-in Lasernet Core admin user only.
The Lasernet Core system does not use any of the available installation and setup options (such as creating server certificate bindings).
If these compromises are not suitable for your situation, follow the full installation and setup process.
The quick start installation and setup process is:
Configure the Lasernet Core services running on the servers:

The Full Installation and Setup Process
Those who are following the full installation and setup process should follow the full procedure described on each page of this guide.
An understanding of basic IT concepts and some IT administration knowledge is assumed. To create and configure the Lasernet Config database, a basic level of database administration knowledge is required. A basic understanding of Lasernet Core concepts (such as configurations) is also assumed.
To get a Lasernet Core 11 system up and running, you must install software on servers and clients, and then complete basic configuration and system setup tasks. This guide will help you to complete the following process:
Configure the Lasernet Core services running on the servers:
Complete initial system setup tasks in Lasernet Config Server:
Note
Depending on project requirements, some parts of this process might not be necessary, or you might need to complete advanced configuration tasks that are not covered by this guide.
Note
After you have a basic Lasernet Core 11 system up and running, you can install any optional Lasernet Core software (such as the Lasernet Printer Service) that is needed to fulfill project requirements.
Scope
This guide covers installation and basic system configuration for Lasernet Core 11 and later only.
Note
For information about installing Lasernet Core 10, see the Lasernet 10 Installation Guide.
This guide does not describe Lasernet Core system administration. For information about Lasernet Core administration, see the Lasernet Core Administration Guide.
This guide does not describe how to create and import Lasernet Core configurations and deploy them to Lasernet Core environments. For information on that subject, see the Lasernet Core Configuration Management and Deployment Guide.
This guide does not describe how to use Lasernet Developer to modify the workflow that a Lasernet Core configuration describes. For information on that subject, see the Lasernet Developer Guide.
