Introduction

Overview and Purpose

The Test and Performance Suite in the FO Connector provides functionality for regression testing, performance testing, and data creation within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. The suite uses and extends standard Dynamics 365 FO functionality as well as Lasernet FO Connector functionality. The main components of the Test and Performance Suite are:

Testing

The Test and Performance Suite enables users to test Lasernet reports. The main purpose of the testing functionality is to validate Lasernet reports after application updates, which could be Lasernet, Custom, or Application suite module updates, to identify any changes to the report’s XML or PDF files.

UX Testing Using Task Recordings

Task recordings can be used with the Test and Performance Suite to automatically execute pre-recorded testing scenarios to validate Lasernet functionality after application updates or configuration changes. These could be Lasernet, Custom, or Application suite module updates. This functionality is also useful to an organization, as it can be used to create data for testing scenarios.

Warehouse Mobile Device Testing

The Task recorder cannot be used with the Warehouse Management mobile app using standard Dynamics because a separate URL is needed to start the app simulator. Therefore, the Task recorder cannot be started from Dynamics 365 FO before the mobile app is started. However, the Test and Performance Suite enables the use of the Task recorder and UX tests with Warehouse Management mobile app processes.

Replicate Test Data

The Test and Performance Suite can be used to replicate existing sales orders and purchase orders. There are also options to replicate journal records linked to sales orders and purchase orders. For example, a sales invoice journal record or a purchase order confirmation journal record. A benefit of this is the reduction of time needed to create data for testing purposes.

Performance

The Test and Performance Suite enables users to test the performance of reports that are processed by Lasernet FO connector. This functionality is beneficial to an organization, as it can be used to test the throughput of reports. For example, an organization may have a requirement to generate 1,000 sales invoices and email each one to a different customer within one hour. Various tests can be used to identify the best performance settings for a report.
