    Article summary

    Introduction

This page contains the performance benchmarks for Autoform DM.

The benchmarks shown were run against Autoform DM using the configuration specified in the following section.

    Environment

    Client

The client machine is a Virtual Machine (VM) located on dedicated hardware (the tests run from this PC). Host configuration:

    • Intel i7 3930K (6 Cores, 12 Threads)

    • 16GB RAM

    • Samsung SSD 850 PRO 512GB

    • 1GB network adapter

    Server

The Autoform DM server components are made up from a number of VMs hosted on a dedicated virtual server (Dell PowerEdge R710 Rack Server). This has the following hardware:

    • CPUs: 2 x Intel Xeon E5630 2.53GHz (4 Cores, 8 Threads)

    • Around 120GB RAM

    • 3.64 TB HDD (non-SSD)

And the Virtual Machines are configured as follows.

MS SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition VM:

    • 10GB Memory

    • 8 CPUs

    • OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

    File server VM:

    • 4GB Memory

    • 2 CPUs

    • OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

Primary Domain Controller and Load Balancer VM:

    • 4GB Memory

    • 2 CPUs

    • OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

Autoform DM node or Autoform DM standalone VM:

    • 4GB Memory

    • 2 CPUs

    • OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

    System Size

The tests are executed against pre-configured databases to simulate the following typical system sizes:

    • Small: 1 document type, 100,000 documents

    • Medium: 5 document types, 5,000,000 documents

    • Large: 10 document types, 50,000,000 documents

    Results

This section contains results for all the benchmark scenarios.

    Note

Results should be used as a guideline only; they may differ depending on your particular hardware and software configuration.

    REST vs WebService v2

The results show the performance of Autoform DM (standalone) using both REST and WebService v2 on a medium system size.

Note the comparison point for the old REST Session Authentication. This is the quickest option but does assume a usage profile of a single session and multiple requests.

Get action in REST is counted as two actions: GET metadata and GET file

    REST Benchmarks

The results show the performance of Autoform DM across a different number of application nodes using REST.

4 nodes here shows a specific optimization under these conditions, however the other results return to the norm
