These acronyms, words and phrases are used in Autoform DM.
Read on to understand the most common standard phrases and their meaning.

Autoform DM-Specific Terms
DocDef
Document definition. The document definition defines the type of document. Think of this as a label that assigns your document to a folder. It can be used to retrieve it efficiently.
Key
An element within a document; text string, number or date. These are the metadata assigned to a document. Keys are the primary search method used to to retrieve a document efficiently.
KeyDef
Key definition. Defines the configuration of a key, including the data type – string, number or date – and the label.
User
An individual user account.
Role
When created, a user account is assigned a role. This determines whether or not it has administrator rights.
Group
You can arrange a number of users into a group. System administrators can efficiently tie together a variety of applications and assign to a named group, these can then be assigned to users for easy future administration.
Sub-Group
A group of users contained within a group. This additional layer can facilitate system administrators.
Application
User-enabled configuration that performs a particular task. For example, you can create a search application to retrieve documents, import documents or integrate client applications. See image of drop-down menu options.
Search
An application type to search your archive and retrieve documents containing matches. See also Query; interchangeable term.
Query
An application type to search your archive and retrieve documents containing matches. See also Search; interchangeable term.
Label
A human-readable custom label.
Name
A system-readable name to go with the label.
LineItem
A numbered row of data in a document, comprising several keys.
LineItem Key
The key within the LineItem table. For example, Item number.
System Key
An element of system data. Typical examples are Archive Date, Last Changed Date, Revision, Owner. See image of drop-down menu options.
Validation Regex
A regular expression can be added to validate any entered values.
Bound / Bindings / Bind
Keys can be bound – meaning that they are associated – with a particular document definition.
Associate
DocDefs can be associated with applications.
PDM
Legacy software title of Autoform DM.

SQL
Structured Query Language. This refers to the Microsoft SQL relational database on which Autoform DM depends.
PBKDF2
Password storage method for hashing.
LDAP
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
VM
Virtual Machine. We recommend Autoform DM is installed on a VM.
Operand
The value or data on which an operation will be performed.
REST API
Restful Application Programming Interface. Accessed via the Help icon, this can be used to develop custom integrations with third-party applications.
API Key
A unique string generated for authenticating API integrations.
DB
Database
DB ID
Database Identifier
Chunks
File fragments for in-progress uploads.
